Simple Backups Mod (26.2, 1.20.1) – Backups Should Be Saved

Simple Backups Mod creates backups of your world, which is extremely useful when playing with a large number of mods. Sometimes, a single mod with an error can corrupt your map and prevent it from launching. The mod periodically makes a copy of your world and stores it in a separate folder. You can specify the interval in minutes, the total number of stored copies, as well as the total size of all backups, after which older backups will be deleted.

Configuration file: .minecraftconfigsimplebackups-common.toml By default, the mod stores 10 world backups, creates backups every 120 minutes, and sets a maximum backup folder size of 25 GB. The mod also displays notifications confirming successful backups. Default storage folder: .minecraft/simplebackups

Commands

• Manual Backup
  /simplebackups backup start <quiet true/false>

  Starts a backup manually. The quiet option suppresses chat messages.

• Pause / Resume Backups
  • /simplebackups backup pause – Temporarily disables automatic backups.
  • /simplebackups backup unpause – Re-enables automatic backups.

  Useful during maintenance or events.

• Merge Incremental Backups
  /simplebackups mergeBackups
  Merges all incremental backups inside the directory defined by outputPath.

Compatibility

• Mc2Discord: Sends backup notifications to Discord if enabled.
• Cherished Worlds: Optional; backups only include worlds marked as favorite.

Common Configuration

• enabled: Enables/disables all backups. Default: true
• backupType: FULL_BACKUPS, MODIFIED_SINCE_LAST, MODIFIED_SINCE_FULL
• saveAll: Performs save-all before backup. Default: true
• fullBackupTimer: Minutes between forced full backups. Default: 525960
• backupsToKeep: Maximum number of retained backups. Default: 10
• timer: Backup interval in minutes. Default: 120
• compressionLevel: 0-9, or -1 for auto balancing. Default: -1
• sendMessages: Sends feedback messages. Default: true
• maxDiskSize: Storage threshold for automatic cleanup. Default: 25 GB
• outputPath: Backup directory. Default: simplebackups
• noPlayerBackups: Allows backups with no players online. Default: false
• createSubDirs: Creates subfolders per world. Default: false
• useTickCounter: Uses server ticks instead of real time. Default: false
• mc2discord: Discord integration toggle. Default: true
• onlyFavorites: Backup only favorite worlds. Default: false

Ignoring Files and Folders

• ignoredPaths: Full directories to skip.
  Example: ["logs", "data/cache"]
• ignoredFiles: Specific files to skip.
  Example: ["level.dat_old", "stats/player.json"]
• ignoredFilesRegex: Regex for ignored files.
  Example: .*.temp$

Server Configuration

• commandsCheatsDisabled: Allows commands without cheats. Default: false
• messagesForEveryone: Sends notifications to everyone. Default: true

Note: Review ignore rules carefully to avoid skipping important data.
