It is better to transfer the ownership of the pet to another active player so that they can take care of your pet while you are away. Transfer Pet Owner Mod is here to let you do just that. Take a book and quill and write the name of the player that you want to transfer the ownership of the pet to. Hold the book and quill with the name in your hand, look at the pet and execute /trigger transfer_pet_owner, and it’s done!
