Minecraft loads your world in a way that the vertical limits of an entire chunk are synced with the player. In modded scenarios where the world height has been considerably increased, this can prove detrimental. Loading up the entire chunk in its entirety will require more system resources and therefore will affect the game performance. Vertigo Mod is here to change that. This mod basically makes it so that the entire height of the chunk is not synced with the player. Vertigo solves this issue by only syncing chunk sections that are near the player vertically. In other words, by lying to the client about what blocks are where. If a chunk section is too far above or below the player, the server will tell the client that the section is empty. Or in other words, full of air.
