Primary function is an infinite lighter. While crouching, you can place mini Hakkero blocks for smelting items. You can also charge the item like a bow while crouching. Projectiles travel 50 blocks and deal 4 damage. Charging without crouching creates a powerful attack that immobilizes you for 6 seconds.
