If you're tired of using regular stairs in the game, use the Minecraft Elevators mod to ride on elevators. The build contains 5 types of elevators that quickly move the player up or down. The block won't take up much space and will match any interior perfectly. Just jump to move up and crouch to go down. Elevator types: Black Elevator, Gray Elevator, White Elevator, Green Elevator, Yellow Elevator.
