How to install Minecraft Bedrock maps

Bedrock maps come as .mcworld files. Unlike addons, there's nothing to activate — Minecraft imports the world ready to play, and it lands right at the top of your worlds list.

Step by step

Download the map

In the MC Bedrock Mods app, open the map and tap Download. You'll get a .mcworld file.

Open the file — Minecraft imports it

Tap the downloaded .mcworld file. Minecraft opens and imports the world automatically. No unzipping, no folders.

Find it in your Worlds list

Open Play → Worlds. The new map is at the top of the list (it's the newest world).

Play → Worlds → the new map sits at the top

Tap it to play

Tap the world to load it. That's it — no behavior or resource packs to switch on for a map.

Maps are self-contained. A .mcworld already includes any packs the creator built it with, so there's usually no separate activation step. If a specific build asks you to enable an experiment, do it in that world's Settings → Experiments.

Frequently asked questions

I imported the map but can't find it

Open Play → Worlds and look at the very top of the list — newly imported worlds appear there first. If it isn't there, the file may not have been a .mcworld, or the import was cancelled; try opening the downloaded file again.

Do I need to activate packs for a map?

No. A .mcworld bundles everything the world needs, so there's nothing to turn on. That's different from addons, which you do have to activate in a world.

Can I install Bedrock maps without a PC?

Yes — on phone or tablet you just download the .mcworld and open it. Minecraft handles the import on the device.
