How to apply a custom Minecraft skin
Skins go to Minecraft's Dressing Room — not to a world, and they don't need Beta APIs. There are two cases depending on the file you have: a .mcpack skin pack, or a single .png.
Case A — a skin pack (.mcpack)
Open the .mcpack — it imports automatically
Tap the downloaded .mcpack. Minecraft opens and adds the skins to your collection — no world, no extra steps.
Open the Dressing Room and wear it
Tap your character to open the Dressing Room → Owned → tap a skin to put it on.
Dressing Room → Owned → tap to wear
Case B — a single skin (.png)
Open the Dressing Room → Choose New Skin
Open the Dressing Room and tap "Choose New Skin".
Dressing Room → Choose New Skin
Pick the .png file
Select the .png file and confirm. It becomes your skin and applies to your character everywhere.
Skins aren't addons. They don't need a world or Beta APIs — once chosen, your skin applies to your character in every world. If a skin is stretched or wrong, it may be the other model type: skins come in classic (Steve) and slim (Alex) arm widths.

Frequently asked questions
Do skins go into a world like addons?
No. Skins live in the Dressing Room and apply to your character everywhere. There's nothing to activate in a world and no Beta APIs needed.
I opened a .png but don't see it
A single .png is applied from the Dressing Room via "Choose New Skin", not by importing like a pack. Open the Dressing Room, tap Choose New Skin, then pick the .png.
My skin looks stretched or the arms are wrong
Minecraft has two body models — classic (wider arms, "Steve") and slim ("Alex"). Choose the model that matches how the skin was drawn.
Can I edit a skin before using it?
Yes — open the .png in Skin Maker to tweak it, then apply. You can also design one from scratch or generate one with AI.
