📌 Project Overview
Tired of standard redstone repeaters glitching, desyncing, or permanently locking in the "ON" state due to Bedrock Edition’s unpredictable engine timings?
The Redstone Piston Relay is a standalone, heavy-duty mechanical clock engine specifically engineered to be 100% immune to electronic freezing or lock-ups. Instead of relying on sub-second electronic repeater timings, this system utilizes raw, physical geometry. By forcing the electrical loop to alternate through physical piston-shuttle movements, it creates an unbreakable state machine perfect for commercial fire exit alarms, map triggers, and high-reliability systems.
🧱 Component Manual & Glossary
This showcase world is fully documented in-game with signs. The system is broken down into the following key components:
- The Pulse Limiter (Extra Module): A sticky-piston monostable circuit that instantly intercepts permanent input signals (like a thrown lever or multiple simultaneous inputs) and slashes them down to a crisp, un-lockable 1-tick ignition spike.
- The Starter/Looper: The initial piston assembly that catches the Pulse Limiter's spike to jump-start the core mechanical momentum.
- The Engine & Main Circuit: The secondary piston assembly and the diamond-shaped redstone repeater track that forms the main loop core, establishing the primary clock cycle.
- The Loop Bridge: The moving redstone block that acts as a physical handshake, crossing the electrical signal from the Main Circuit back over to the Starter/Looper to create the continuous cycle.
- The Stopper (The E-Brake Extra Module): A surface-wired mechanical brake. When activated by a button or lever, it physically drops a block into the piston pathway, acting as an unarguable bottleneck that completely and safely drains the engine of power.
- The Output: The terminal line where you can hook up note blocks, flashing hazard lights, or command grids.
⚙️ Technical Blueprint & Engine Features
🛡️ 100% Mechanical Freeze Immunity
Because the power source (the Redstone Block) is constantly being shoved completely out of the way of the active wire path by the very signal it creates, this engine is physically incapable of freezing open. If a massive server or world lag spike hits, the pistons simply pause mid-motion and seamlessly resume their alternating cycle the exact millisecond the game recovers.
🔀 Self-Filtering Double Input Handling
When integrated with a multi-wire branch network (like double fire exit doors), the engine naturally filters out chaotic simultaneous pulses. The moment the first door triggers the Pulse Limiter, the bridge block raises, cutting off the input line from the rest of the engine. Any secondary rapid pulses are completely dropped into an empty air gap, ensuring the loop's pacing remains entirely uniform.
🎼 Built-In Custom Cadence
Unlike traditional left-to-right repeater runs, the piston extensions inject a brief mechanical delay into the network. This creates a distinct, staggered "Out-In-Out-In" heavy rhythmic pulse. When wired into note blocks layered over Gold Blocks, it creates an authentic, heavy acoustic cadence that functions exactly like a real-world industrial alarm siren.
⚠️ Optimization & Integration Notes
- Best Use Case: Because this engine utilizes physical tile-entity movement, it should be treated as an intermittent emergency device rather than an engine left running 24/7 on a multiplayer realm.
- Lag Stability: To guarantee the mechanical block handshakes execute flawlessly under intense server strain, keep your Main Circuit repeater delays tuned to a stable 3 or 4 ticks.
- Multi-Zone Support: You can tie multiple engine cores to shared master bus lines (centralized Stoppers and Pulse Limiters) to cleanly control massive, multi-zone security grids across deep hollow-wall map installations.
