Updated 4 November 2026 · Effective with the first release, version 1.0 · Applies to the Gloamer app for iOS (bundle com.addonaut.gloamer)
Gloamer is a catalogue of horror add-ons for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. You swipe through a full-screen feed (the Tape), open saved horror searches (Explore), keep your downloads and favourites (Mine) and hand the files to your own Minecraft. This page says plainly what the app does with data. If a later version changes any of this, the page changes first.
The app is published by Alona Lashkul (Odesa, Ukraine), the developer named on the App Store listing. The online service of our own that the app talks to — the catalogue — is operated for the publisher by MCModsHub (mcmodshub.com). For anything on this page, write to support@mcmodshub.com.
Your downloaded files, favourites and settings (for example the sounds switch) are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, inside the app's own storage. What you type into search is not stored on the device. If iCloud Backup is on for your device, Apple backs these files up under your own Apple Account, like any other app data; we have no access to that backup.
| When you… | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|
| browse or search the catalogue (the Tape, Explore) | the text you type into search in Explore, the filters you choose and which item you open — from version 1.1 together with the app's language, so that the item can come with a ready translation — with the usual connection details (IP address, app version). Search text is used to answer the request; we do not build a search history from it. | our catalogue service at api.mcmodshub.com |
| download a catalogue item | which item you asked for. The file itself then comes either from our own storage or straight from the file servers of the site where its author published it (CurseForge), and that host sees your IP address like any download server does. When the download ends the app tells us the item, whether it succeeded, how many bytes arrived, which attempt it was and, on failure, the kind of failure; this is recorded with your country and IP address. | our catalogue service; our file storage (Cloudflare R2); CurseForge's file servers (Overwolf) |
| hand a downloaded item to another app | the item, whether you handed it over, saved it, cancelled or it failed, and the system name of the destination you picked in the share sheet (for example Minecraft or Save to Files). Never who you sent it to, and never the file. | our catalogue service |
| report a catalogue item | the item, the kind of report, what you write, a contact if you choose to give one, and the usual connection details (IP address, country, app version) | our report inbox at api.mcmodshub.com |
| hide an author | the list of hidden authors stays on your device. One message is sent saying that an author was hidden from this item, with no text and no contact. | our report inbox |
| use the app | that the app was opened and how (icon or link); which screens you open; what you do in the catalogue (swiping the Tape, opening an Explore tile, opening an item, downloading, translating a description, hiding an author, reporting) and whether you finished or skipped the first-run introduction — the kind of action, never text you type; that a catalogue download ended, with the kind of item and whether it succeeded, failed or was cancelled; whether an advertisement before a download was started, watched to the end or closed early; the first successful download, a purchase with its price and currency, and the revenue an advertisement earned. With them come Google's standard measurements — device model, iOS version, language, app version, approximate region derived from the IP address, and a random app-instance identifier. Never anything you type, or the advertising identifier. | Google Analytics for Firebase (Google) |
| the app crashes | a crash report: where in the app's code it stopped, device model, iOS version, app version, free memory and disk, and the same random app-instance identifier. Nothing you typed. | Firebase Crashlytics (Google) |
| install the app | once per install, the app asks Apple whether it was installed from an Apple Ads advertisement. Apple answers with the campaign, ad group and keyword, or "not from an ad"; that answer is added to the usage statistics above. Apple does not tell us who you are. | Apple (AdServices); Google Analytics for Firebase |
| translate a description (version 1.0) | nothing: the translation is done on your device by iOS. iOS may download a language once, from Apple. | — |
| translate a description (version 1.1 and later) | which description it is (the item's identifier) and the app's language, with the usual connection details (IP address, app version) — not the text, and nothing about you. If our service has translated that description before, the translation comes back at once. If not, our service sends the published description to a machine-translation provider and keeps the translation, so that the same text is translated once for everyone. The translation is stored with the text only, never with anything that says who asked. The request itself, like every request to our service, is in our server's access log (IP address and the address requested), which is overwritten within about a day. When our service has no translation to give, the translation is done on your device by iOS, as before; iOS may download a language once, from Apple. | our catalogue service at api.mcmodshub.com; for a description it has not translated before, its machine-translation provider (see Third parties) |
| start the app | a request for the app's current settings, carrying a random installation identifier that is created on your device and is not your advertising identifier | Firebase Remote Config (Google) |
| buy something | the purchase is made with Apple. The app is told by Apple which purchases are active for your Apple Account; we receive no name, card or billing detail. Analytics may record that a purchase happened, and which one. | Apple; Google Analytics for Firebase |
| see an advertisement (only while advertising is on) | IP address, device type and settings, which ads were shown and tapped, your consent choices, and the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allowed tracking in the iOS prompt | Google AdMob and the advertising partners it works with |
Our own servers are located in the European Union and are fronted by Cloudflare, which sees the same connection details any website's edge network sees.
The app contains Google's advertising component. Whether advertisements are shown, and to what share of installs, is set remotely and can change without an app update. While advertising is off for your install, the app makes no advertising request, shows no consent form and does not ask for tracking permission. While it is on:
How Google uses data from apps that show its advertisements is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Purchases are optional and are processed entirely by Apple under your Apple Account. You can remove advertising for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or for good, and there is one optional tip. There are no subscriptions: nothing renews by itself. Refunds are requested from Apple. Restore purchases in the app brings a purchase back on another device signed in to the same account. We keep no record of who bought what.
Catalogue items belong to their authors; each one shows its author, why we may show it, and a link to where it was published. See the Terms and the Copyright & Takedown page for how that content is treated.
Gloamer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to support@mcmodshub.com and we will delete it.
If you are in the EU, UK or another place with data-protection law, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Because the app has no accounts, the only data on our own servers that can be tied to you is what you sent — a report — and the catalogue records described above. Tell us roughly when and what, and we will find and delete them. Consent given in Google's form can be withdrawn at any time in the way described under Advertising. Write to support@mcmodshub.com. You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
If we change what the app sends or keeps, we update this page and the effective date at the top before the change ships. Material changes are also described in the App Store release notes.
