How to install Minecraft Bedrock texture packs — and turn them on

Texture packs are the easiest content to install: one tap to import, one tap to activate. They only change how the game looks — so the steps are simpler than for addons.

Good to know: a texture pack is a Resource Pack. It has no Behavior Pack — so if a guide tells you to activate one, that advice is for addons, not textures.

1. Install it from the app

  1. Tap Download on the pack's page in MC Bedrock Mods.
  2. When it finishes, tap "Import to Minecraft" — Minecraft opens and imports the pack by itself.
  3. You'll see "Successfully imported" in Minecraft. That's it — no renaming, no file manager needed; the app even fixes .zip files automatically.

2. Turn it on — one world or everywhere

For one world:

  1. Open your world → Edit (pencil) → Resource Packs.
  2. Tab Available → tap the pack → Activate.
  3. It moves to Active → press Play.

Resource Packs → Available → Activate — the only switch textures need

For every world at once: from the main menu go to Settings → Global Resources, find the pack under Available and activate it there. Great for UI packs and FPS-boost packs you always want on.

3. Nothing changed in game?

  1. Double-check the pack is under Active (step 2) — importing alone doesn't turn it on.
  2. Leave and re-enter the world after activating.
  3. Some packs only change specific things (swords, UI, particles) — read the pack's description so you know what to look for.

4. Textures look broken — pink/black squares or missing blocks

That's almost always a version mismatch: the pack was made for an older Minecraft. Check the version in the pack's description against your game, and try a newer build of the same pack — popular ones get re-uploaded for current versions. Searching the pack's name in the app usually finds an updated variant.

5. "Shader" packs — what to expect on Bedrock

True shaders (fancy lighting, shadows, water reflections) are heavily limited on current Bedrock — the render engine doesn't allow the deep changes Java shaders make. Many packs labelled "shader" are actually texture packs that brighten colors or tweak the sky. If a "shader" didn't change the lighting, that's the platform limit, not a broken file.

6. It's a .zip / it won't import

Files from other sites sometimes come as .zip or are packaged in a way Minecraft rejects. The app handles this for you: it detects what's inside, renames it to a proper .mcpack and repairs bad packaging automatically. If you have such a file from a friend or another site, use "Import from file" on the Downloads tab — the app will fix and import it.

7. Still broken? Report it from the app

If a specific pack genuinely won't download or import, report it from its page in the app. We check broken files and usually fix or replace them within a day — and the app will often suggest a working alternative right away.

Frequently asked questions

Do texture packs need "Beta APIs" or experiments?

No. Experiments are for scripted addons. A texture pack only needs to be activated under Resource Packs (or Global Resources) — no experiment toggles.

Where is the Behavior Packs step?

There isn't one — texture packs don't have a behavior part. Only addons (new mobs, items, mechanics) use Behavior Packs.

The pack imported but my game looks the same

Importing doesn't activate it. Open your world → Edit → Resource Packs → Available → Activate, or turn it on for all worlds in Settings → Global Resources. Then re-enter the world.

I see pink and black squares

The pack was built for an older Minecraft version. Look for an updated build of the same pack — search its name in the app and check the version in the description.
